Pack Magick
A question...
|
 |
|
I don't know if someone has already posted something about this or not, but I would like to know more about "pack magick." In my understanding, pack magick is when there is a group of closely bonded people/otherkin/animals and their energies sorta meld together. For example, my friend and I have sort of a "pack of two" thing going, and another friend who's good with the whole energy tasting thing said that me and my pack-friend "taste" similar and have a feild of protective energy surrounding us.
So I guess what I'm asking; is it true that a pack (or pride, pod, herd, whatever term you choose) has a special sort of binding magick or something?

I suppose it could be a particular branch of the primitive sort of soul magic the subconscious does on its own.... It depends on how aware your group is of the link at a conscious level as well as how advanced they are.

When we're together (I"ve noticed that physical distance does have some effect on it) there is a certain feel of "together-ness." I suppose it's hard to explain; I never really thought of it much untill my non-pack friend commented on it. When I"m with the pack (it used to be more than just the two of us), it feels almost like we're just seperate perspectives of the same conciousnes... Eh, I don't think I'm really doing that good of a job of explaining it...

hmm... distance is not a issue for most forms of magic, and it definitely isn't for a form like soul magic.. as it is designed to survive death I cant see a bit of space confounding it ^^; ....It might be a form of instinctive telepathy so to speak... as it sounds more like your joined at the lower mind levels.

I don't think it would be necessary. Two people don't need to be bonded to push a cart together. Two flames don't have to merge in order to heat the same object together, and two lights don't have to come from the same source to light a room together.
I don't see why there needs to be a bond to invest more energy and increase the 'power'. It could be that you need it to synchronize properly and achieve your goal properly, though.

hmm... joined might be a bit more rigid a word than I intended to use... perhaps linked would work better. As Nirofen mentioned you seem to be quite well synced at any rate.

*blinkblink* Um... coven magick?
Ever done some form of ritual in a coven? There's almost a gestalt affect... like a sense of magnefication. I love group magick... if everyone's on the same page of course... and a group of closely nit friends... even better. I don't know about the forming of a literal pack and that pack doing magick because there's a bit more involved I would say... but... coven magick is very common. Blood or soul ties would probably increase this connection and probably the intensity of the energy flow.

coven magic and most forms of good group magic seem to have ties between the members of the group on a subconscious level... you could say for the time of the working you are a metaphysical Borg collective in a way =P

In a pack, even with 'normal' humans (more common in pack beings like wolven therianthropes. Humans are usually social, but they think "group" before "pack" and therians can be the opposite way) there is a special bond which may cause you to sense how another member of the pack is feeling, if it gets hurt etc. It's, as I know, referred to as "pack mind".
I'd write a smaller essay on the topic.. but I'm not sure what I'd write about it. It's too complex to explain.
It has nothing to do with a closely bonded pack performing magic together, it's far more basic and primal ^^..

Thanks! I agree with you that it is much more primal than most magicks.

I have experienced this before. I must say, the feeling is amazing and wonderfully...safe. It hurts like mad when the connection breaks, though. Or maybe that was just me holding on to a link that no longer existed. All I know is, I have never experienced a pain like that.

Yes, that is exactly how it was for us. I did not find it effected by distance, however. Possibly because we were never all that far from each other? I don't know.
As for the magical aspect...That is harder for me to consider. I was very young, naive, and unprepared for that sort of thing. We all were. However, when we formed a circle it felt as though an electrical charge were rippling between us. It was warm and...I want to say pure, but I don't think that's quite the word I'm looking for. It felt right. I have not formed a circle with anyone else since then, so I don't know if it is normal to feel that or whether the feeling was stronger than what would be considered normal.
My knowledge and understanding is not sufficient for me to draw any conclusions...But I can offer my experience up to those who know more or have experienced the same.
