When did you awaken?

I have a theory that certain things that happen in your life could spark your awakening to just start happening one day (i;e.. puberty, growth spurts, sudden changes) anybody want to share when you awakened and if you thing anything caused it?

My awakening never 'just started happening one day.' I remember feeling Other as a small child - it just took me a while [see, several years] to define what I was and to learn about this subculture. Nothing happened that outright triggered my awakening. In fact, you could say that I sort of triggered it myself - always felt Other, decided one day to force it to the forefront of my mind to work out what it was, and it hasn't receeded yet. The feeling's always been there, though.

When I was a little kid, I knew that my "inside me" did not match the "outside me" and my "inside me" was a troodon that could hover in the air.
Then, trying to be a good christian, I repressed these early beliefs. They in turn cluex4'd me at age 14, 3 years *after* I hit puberty, and while I was writing an essay for english class. Nothing remarkable except that I was finally starting to question whether christianity was the right path for me.

I never really had an awakening in the "ah ha" moment sense. I was born the way I am. The only type of awakening I had was when I decided to actively explore what I've felt my entire life and that happened around the age of 18 or 19.

Like Sera, I never really had an awakening. I was learning about vampires then therians then otherkin. Then I was like "so, that's what's it called" but it was just more of a title to how I felt instead of an "awakening". I think I was 16 or 17 when I started to look into myself fully.

We have a poll about this that's buried a bit:

Hopefully that can answer some of your questions, though there are far too few votes to consider it an accurate result set.

In my early teens. I think that might be the most common time to awaken... it ties in nicely with the whole teen angst lack of identity thing. XD

I've always been a kitty. :3 No awakening for me other than finding out that I did not have to suppress myself and that it was better for me not to do so.

This is a hard call for me... Fully awakened- as to knowledge and realization? Very recently, though I would say 'awakening' is perpetual. I named myself when I was 15, I suppose that was the very first conscious manifestation of awakening.
