 What's your opinion on this.
Either enlightened or insane friends.

Oh boy.
Oooh boy. This is gonna be a long one.

Okay, first off let me introduce the players in this game: George, Susan, and Jill. They are some friends of mine, and at times close friends, but I'm not sure quite what to think of their 'expression' (for lack of a better word) of themselves.
I'm not going to take a stance on this, because I want your opinion, whatever it may be.

From the beginning, then...

First I met Susan. She was a quiet girl in one of my classes, kinda sweet, funny, but with a little punk dark-side. We grew from acquaintances into friends, not close or anything, but we hung out in classes.
One day, she told me she heard voices. Okay, no big deal. Seems kinda cool.
At the time I didn't know what schizophrenia was. I thought Steve and the other voices were either a joke or.. I dunno. I was young.
Long story short, she was making it up. Apparently she liked the attention and it was a reliable conversation piece.

Fastforward a couple years...
Susan and I grew closer and started dating. At first I was unsure about telling her I was otherkin, but eventually it came out. I didn't want to hide something that was apart of me. She was actually really accepting, and it was so relieving. She explained that she was actually trying to become a vampire, and was in 'training' or something of the like. Apparently vampires had to do all these different rites and processes in order to turn.

The time came, a few months later, when she announced that she was now officially a vampire. (I was still confused on the process, so I just took it in stride.) Her best friend Jill was also now a vampire too. And together they wreaked havoc on my skin.
When you date people, you do stupid things sometimes. Me? I let them bite me. Unfortunately, their teeth weren't sharp enough to break skin, so I would come home with huge bruises for days or sometimes weeks that I had to make up a reason for.

Susan and Jill then began to talk about their past lives- Jill was a vampire princess, and Susan was her body guard, long ago.

-George enters the picture-

Suddenly, one day, George, an acquaintance who is becoming fast friends with Susan and Jill, announces that he is a vampire also. According to Jill and Susan, they were trying to get his attention, and for some reason, called 'Zurithium!'
And now George is a vampire who in a past life was Zurithium.
I asked one of his friends who knew him well before this point if he had ever proclaimed to be a vampire, and the answer was no. I won't judge though, maybe they sparked an immediate awakening or something.

Fastforward some more.
Susan leaves me and dates George. Apparently vampires can't love anyone other than other vampires, so everything she had told me before about loving me was incorrect. George takes her in with a flourish, and Softpad is left out on the doorstep.
All of this has been resolved now; I was angry at them at first, but now we're all friends. After all, who am I to get in the way of their happiness?

Next month, George and I had a fight. I didn't like how he was treating me as inferior, just because I was a year younger, and I plain-out said so. I felt that although he was a (no longer just vampire) half-fire-demon-vampire, that didn't make him alpha of the whole bloody universe. How does he respond?
"Your understandment isn't as great as mine."
..
back up.
Now, I don't profess to know everything about anything. Hell, I'm still a minor. I hardly know anything about anything. However, I do know, being a bright student and all, that 'understandment' is not a word. I told him so, and he responded by deeming me childish and then damning me to a firey eternity or somewhat..

Susan and Jill are now tweaking their past lives. Susan is a vampire who can shift into a bat and Jill a vampire-faerie-queen who can shift into a crow and open doors into other worlds. George was Susan's protector and mentor.

Right now, the story is pretty much the same.

Whoo.. okay, now that I'm done, what do you think? Would you believe them? Would you not believe them?
I'm not asking so I know whether or not to believe them, I'd just like others' opinions.

Oh, another thing is that Susan and Jill have the souls of their past lives inside of them. So sometimes they frequently get 'possessed' by Luminthia or Ateve and start speaking a different language.

Sounds like a fluff-monster to me. Have you ever heard of Rod Ferrel? He was a "vampire" living in Kentucky. He had a bit of a following and created a Vampire Cult and claimed that he was a 700 year old vampire named Vesago. In the end, he killed his girlfriend's parents.
So what I'm trying to say is be careful. Don't let them think that you actually believe their claims because you would only be indulging their fantasy. I wouldn't recommend telling them straight-out "You guys are fake!" as that will make them very angry, and as you mentioned, these guys are your friends.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the advice, and kudos for reading all the way through. n.n

I guess I kinda indulge them, cause for the most part I go along with it because I'm not sure if they're joking or not (and I kinda like having people who accept my oddities) but I always put my foot down if anything gets physically violent. as in, one time I made a joke about crow guts and got slapped. That was when I walked away(after retaliating in like).

One word, Roleplayers.

These "friends" of yours are possibly delusional, but more probably, just playing an elaborate pretend.

I could be totally wrong here, but you asked for our opinions, so here is mine.

If Susan was willing to pretend to hear voices for attention, then it isn't a far stretch to say that she may have gone a little further in inventing, and thus created the whole vampire thing. Especially in this day and age, when vampires are considered "sexy" and "cool". I don't know any of them, I am not them, etc., but just based upon what you have said, it sounds like a scheme to seek attention. To further back up my opinion, I have something to add. It has been my experience-- that its not exactly rare...just not common...that someone who knew someone else in a past life, and was really close, would meet again and be really close again. Especially when you add a third person to the picture. I mean, it happens, but given the history you have given us of these people, it doesn't seem to likely. The other thing I would like to say is that since they have changed their minds so much. Now don't get me wrong here-- I am one of those people who have changed their minds a bit, too. For me, it is simply because I let my logic get in the way of truth. For instance, if I feel/remember X, Y, and Z, then if you add to 2+2 =3. In other words, I get ahead of myself because I am impatient to find out the truth, and I use a bit too much logic in it. So it could be the same case with Susan, Jill, and George. But the reason that I have this opinion is because when you add all these factors together, it doesn't seem likely. But like I have said, it is more than possible.

When I first read that Susan heard voices, I was like "Well...that's fine, I guess"..Then I read the rest.

I agree with Miniar and they're probably roleplayers.

Thanks for your opinions everyone. Apparently I'm not the only one who had a little red light going off when evaluating all this. Heh...

I guess I'm just frustrated by how they act in public and therefore give a bad name to otherkin. Just saying plainly, they are the stereotypical gothic kids.

I love 'em to death, but I won't be treated as an 'inferior' because they believe they're vampires...

-venting-

Argh.

A thought along those lines crossed my mind, but I never really elaborated on it like that.. interesting.

This has all the classic signs of fluffy roleplayers.

In the last 8 years, I've seen it dozens of times where an entire circle of friends is suddenly "otherkin" after one person claims to be such and they all knew each in past lives etc etc etc...

The claims these people make invariably get more and more outlandish and "speshul".

Because I'm a mean evil person I'd make an attempt to "one up" them in the special category and see how quickly suddenly they are more powerful than I was!

I honestly can't really express my initial opinion without being... um... bitchy.

It sounds to me like an ego-wank.. as crass as that sounds. To test the ego-wank theory I'd also recommend that game Shiari suggested with them (as in claim to have super powers bigger than theirs - I recommend using something completely rediculous just for the lulz - and see if they are suddenly adding amazing new super powers that happen to be more rediculous and more powerful than your claims). If they react as expected you can then point out the rediculousness of their claims to them and that they're obviously being stupid. Sometimes pointing it out to people gives them the change in perspective enough to get shaken back down to reality. Then you might just get your friends back.. or some of them.

Otherwise, if it were me (and it actually has been me in the past), I would seperate myself from them. I wouldn't tolerate the superiority complex at all.

That being said, it is your life and they are your friends, and you need to decide what action to take that best suits you and the situation you are in with them. I do however think that playing into their ego is only going to make the situation worse and you should keep standing up for yourself, you don't want to get into an abusive relationship with these folks.

Sounds to me like Susan and Jill are either delusional or just flat out manipulative, and depending on the ages and the specific relationships involved, they arguably abused you. (They told you they were vampire monarchy and physically assaulted you in order to get off . . . nice.)

I think a much more interesting question is why the hell you even spend time with them! They sound like grade-A manipulative assholes. Whether you believe they are Vampire Monarchy or not, it seems pretty obvious that they are not good friends.

Life is too short to waste it on people who don't give a damn about you.

The best way of, in short, writing out my reaction.. is that if they were my friends, I'd be cramping on the ground before them from laughing. No, I'm not the most refined person with my reactions.
